Baskin Robbins is an American chain of ice cream founded by two brothers-in-laws, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins in Glendale, California in 1945. Before then, the two brothers-in-laws had their own separate ice cream businesses named Burt’s Ice Cream Shop and Snowbird Ice Cream. The two brothers-in-laws decided to merge the two ice cream ventures in 1948. It was the merger of the two ice cream ventures that formed Baskin Robbins. The chain began to expand even faster than the owners could have imagined. In 1970, Baskin Robbins opened its first international locations.
