Caribou Coffee
Caribou Coffee Company is an American coffee and coffee chain company. Caribou Coffee was founded in Edina, Minnesota, in 1992. The organization operates 603 sites worldwide as of May 2015.
John Puckett, the founder of Caribou Coffee, served as a strategic consultant for the Boston-based Bain & Company to help create concepts and plans for other businesses before he wanted to become an entrepreneur. After a trip to Denali National Park in Alaska, Kim and his wife wanted to raise money to start a coffee company. His wife remained with General Motors as John traveled to Minnesota to locate the first location and get finances together.

The original idea for Caribou was a five-day-a-week routine targeted at Downtown office employees, imitating what existed in Boston. Puckett signed a lease for the first location in the large office building of the Pillsbury Center.
In 1990, after an expedition through the Alaskan wilderness, the founders traveled to the Sable Range peak. They reached the top after a steep climb and were met with a breathtaking view: the boundless mountains, a bright blue sky, and a herd of Caribou thundering through the valley. That was the “aha” moment.
