Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is an American fast casual restaurant founded by Travis Dickey, a World War II veteran, in Dallas, Texas in 1941. The restaurant started as a family business. Travis Dickey was responsible for working the block while Miss Ollie Dickey would be serving sandwiches. In 1967, the son took over the leadership of the company. He was able to grow and expand the business especially around North Texas. In 1994, the restaurant opened its first franchised location following the demands for more locations by loyal guests and barbecue lovers. The company has since expanded to more than 500 locations across 44 states in the United States and the United Arab Emirate. The headquarters is based in Dallas, Texas.
