About Firehouse Subs

Firehouse Subs is an American fast casual restaurant chain established by two brothers; Robin Sorensen and Chris Sorenson in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994. It may amaze you how the two firemen by career turned restaurateurs. Before the two brother started Firehouse Subs, they had laid their hands on few businesses such as real estate, rock ‘n’ roll, and Christmas tree farming which they called Kris Kringle Christmas Trees. But as fate would have it, they finally settled for Firehouse Subs.

The two brothers have been able to prove that when there is a will, there is a will. It will surprise you to know that Robin Sorensen and Chris Sorenson had just $100 in their accounts when they opened the first Firehouse Subs location. According to them, being broke actually happened to turn to their advantage. What seemed to be like delay in starting the restaurant business due to the lack of money actually gave them opportunity to be patient and learn more about business. But how were they able to finance the opening of the first Firehouse Subs location? They raised the money through loans from family and friends. But through their frugality and discipline with money, the restaurant was able to pay off all its debt in 2001. Today, the company has expanded to more than 1,150 locations across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto. The restaurant chain is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, United States.

Firehouse Subs also operates the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a nonprofit organization they founded in 2005 with the aim of impacting public service organizations
